Rituals for Virgo Season

We are now moving through Virgo season, an energy connected to organization, routine and the mind-body connection. Virgo governs the sixth house of health, bringing to the forefront areas in our lives where our energy has felt out of alignment together with the motivation to create daily practices for easing anxiety and stress. When we value life as sacred, rituals become a powerful way of grounding our energy, of coming into presence and calming the mind. The following are some rituals to support your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual wellbeing during Virgo season.
1) Begin the day with sacred connection
The first hour of your day is the time that you are the most connected to your unconscious, a key influence in either supporting or blocking the dreams you are seeking to manifest. Many of us start the day by looking at our phones or scrolling through social media or email. This practice cultivates an overactive mind rather than presence and stillness in our bodies. Instead, beginning the day with an intentional practice of connecting to the innate wisdom of your body can help to calm the nervous system, to connect on a deeper level with your intuition and to set the tone for the day to come. Here is a simple practice to try directly upon waking: close your eyes, place your hands on your heart, connect with your heart center and tune into the sensations of your body and energy. Next, offer gratitude for all of the blessings in your life. From this space, you can then set your intentions for the day, visualize what you would like to create and align your energy with how it would feel to manifest your deepest desires.
Stream of conscious journaling is another powerful ritual for beginning the day. Set a timer and write down anything that comes into your head-words, phrases, all without judgement. This practice helps to clear the mind and brings deeper awareness to your mental narrative. Next, write on top of the page: What does my Higher Self want to share with me today? Again, note anything that comes through. This second practice is a beautiful way to strengthen the connection to your intuition and can provide clarity in times of confusion or overwhelm.
2) Connect with the energy of the earth
As an earth sign Virgo embodies the energy of Gaia, the spirit of the earth. You can connect with her energy in different ways. Spending time in nature and giving an offering (crystals, rose petals, sacred water, etc) to your favorite tree or river is a beautiful way of aligning with the infinite abundance offered by Gaia. Creating space in the morning or evening to savor a natural infusion of calming herbs such as chamomile, passionfruit or lemon balm can be a simple daily act of self-care. Constructing an altar with a beeswax candle, crystals and other elements of the earth is another way to connect with Gaia and raise the vibration of your physical space. Ritual baths-the practice of cleansing and meditating with everyday elements such as herbs, flowers and crystals-can assist with healing and manifesting different intentions. 3) Simplify your life
Virgo embodies the energy of simplicity and discernment. You may feel called over the coming month to declutter and organize your physical space. Objects hold energy and your physical space is an extension of your energetic body. Clearing out items that you no longer use helps to remove stagnant energy, allowing for greater clarity of mind and space for new energy to flow through. Performing a ritual to cleanse your space using sage, palo santo or sound bowls is a good weekly practice and especially effective when combined with the upcoming new moon in Virgo.
Incorporating ritual into your daily life through these simple practices is a potent way to calm the mind and create a deeper connection to your inner self.
