New Moon in Taurus: Grounding through Disruption

We have entered Taurus season, a time of stability and grounding. As a fixed earth sign, the energy of Taurus helps us to take the inspiration and creative downloads we received during Aries season and embody them into the 3D. Taurus connects us to our five senses, bringing us back into the body. Its ruler Venus invites us to consider how we can invite more pleasure into our lives while honoring our deeper values, desires and needs.

Although Taurus invites us to ground, the past week has reminded me how healing is often non-linear. Sunday’s new moon in Taurus ignites a tense buildup of energy in the cosmos, illuminating an area of our lives where something is out of alignment, along with any resistance we may have to necessary change. This energy can feel disruptive, pulling us out of balance and creating stress upon our nervous system. On a personal note, a series of events over the past few days have greatly triggered my nervous system, taking me back into my default coping mechanism of hypervigilance mode. Hypervigilance manifests for me as a tendency to live in the future “what if”, focusing on potential problems rather than possibilities. It leads to overwhelm, constant anxiety, feeling responsible for the emotions of others and a lack of trust that things will work out in my highest good if I release control.

After devoting the past two years to my healing journey and becoming trained in trauma informed healing, I’m well-aware of my triggers. I’ve also come to realize that when you are upleveling, it can feel as though the universe suddenly slams you with a series of tests to see just how well you’ve learned and integrated those pesky karmic lessons. The past week has felt like a succession of rapid-fire pop life quizzes. When faced with some extremely stressful situations, there were moments that I shut down and sought solace in a bar of 70% sea salt dark chocolate. But this time, I noticed an important shift: I now have tools that help me to recognize when my mind is caught in an old story, gently detach and come back to presence. Yesterday was an example: a new caregiver I had hired through an agency to help support my elderly mother never came. As a result, my mother was alone in the house while I was out with no one to help her. Instead of being able to enjoy my Saturday morning dance classes (a ritual that brings me joy and an important outlet for releasing anxiety), I spent the morning trying to reach the agency coordinator, searching for new agencies and stressing about how everything would work out before my upcoming trip to Portugal.

After a few tense hours, I did the thing I needed most but in the past probably would have avoided: I sat down, closed my eyes, took a few grounding breaths and came back to my own energy. In that space of stillness, I reconnected to a deep inner knowing: safety isn’t found in controlling the external world-it’s anchored from within. This gentle voice reminded me that I don’t have to sacrifice my peace for everyone else. That it’s ok to seek support. That my needs matter. From that space of presence, I could then shift my mental narrative. Instead of continuing to feel trapped in a story of fear, I realized that the universe is actually helping me through these experiences to recognize and shift trauma responses inhibiting me in my path forward.

As we move through the new moon in Taurus, where in your life are you feeling tension and a call for change? What shifts need to be made to welcome in greater calm and peace?
