New Moon in Sagittarius: Creating New Traditions

As we move through Sagittarius season, there is an energy in the collective around reprogramming. We are steadily moving away from the imposed belief systems of the matrix (a word that encompasses elements such as society and family upbringing) and moving towards the creation of individual values and experiences that support our own unique authenticity and growth. This year over the holidays I decided to embody this energy by creating a new tradition: I purchased a small (reusable) Christmas tree. Just as a disclaimer, I’ve grown up Jewish and now consider myself spiritual and not religious. The way that I ended up with a Christmas tree may surprise some of you who are new to my world, but won’t really surprise those who have known me for a while. It came as a sign from my deceased brother Michael.
I myself work with a Spiritual Mentor and a few weeks ago during a session she tuned in, asked me if I’d ever had a Christmas tree and commented that she felt the energy of both myself and Michael as children around a tree. A week later, shortly following what would have been Michael’s 47th birthday, a friend of mine who is a spiritual medium connected to Michael and received another image of us in front of a Christmas tree. After these two very clear synchronicities, I decided to trust that for whatever reason, I was supposed to have a tree.
Full disclosure, I was a little skeptical at first about spending money on something that I would only use once a year. Yet something very special happened when I assembled the tree and turned on the holiday lights : I reconnected with my inner child. I was brought back to a memory when I was younger of continually asking my parents for a Christmas tree and my father always responding that I could have a “Hanukah bush”. This tree was a very special gift to my inner child, a sacred offering of something magical and fun that she had always craved while growing up but never received. I created an altar around my tree to honor its presence, surrounding it with crystals, candles and pictures of my brother and me as children. I went to the Christmas market where I found a Ganesha and crystals to hang on my tree, allowing it to reside as a physical manifestation of my own authentic essence and creativity. Above all, my illuminated Christmas tree represents a new chapter in a two-year healing journey, a knowing of finally moving through the shadow, out of the darkness and into the light. This tree reconnected me to the sensations of joy, hope and new possibilities.
As we approach the New Moon in Sagittarius and end of the calendar year, I invite you to consider where in your life you are ready to create a new tradition aligned with the energy of joy, excitement and curiosity. What are you now initiating from a space of authenticity, of what feels true for you?
