Full Moon in Scorpio: Embracing your Shadow

ree

Over the coming week we will experience a Full Moon in Scorpio. Ruled by Pluto, the planet of transformation, death and rebirth, Scorpio is not for the faint of heart. It is a sign that invites us to connect with and welcome in the shadow. To descend into the depths of the darkest emotions. To sit with the fragmented pieces of ourselves that we have pushed away, hold space for these parts and integrate them back into the light. To face our deepest fears and realize that within the shadow lies our hidden power.

As someone with a Scorpio ascendent, one of my main karmic lessons has been around uncovering and owning my power. The universe has taught me this lesson through multiple avenues, yet the most potent has been by mirroring back to me my deepest fear: the fear of death. Over the past two years as I’ve engaged in a multi-layered healing journey, this theme has been omnipresent in my physical world. I’ve experienced the sudden death of my brother. The death of my previous life in China. The death of a 14 year career as a language teacher. The death of many close friendships.

For quite a while the fear of death activated the shadow side of my Scorpio energy: I went into hyper vigilance mode and my nervous system was on constant alert. By worrying and always anticipating the worst, my unconscious was doing its best to exert control and keep me safe from the threat of yet another impending loss.

However, some of the most profound healing occurred when I consciously chose to welcome in and hold sacred space for this fear. As I navigated the dread of loss that has permeated my unconscious since childhood, I came to an important realization: death is merely a portal to the next phase in our journey. With each ending comes expansion, evolution and the promise of a new beginning. There is an innate beauty and power hidden in the ability to accept and find peace with endings. Life becomes more meaningful as we realize that each instant is fleeting and nothing is truly promised. This consciousness brings us into the present moment, inviting us to focus on creating beauty in the now rather than on living in the possibilities of an unknown future. We experience greater gratitude for the people supporting us through our life journey, knowing that one day many will exist only as a distant memory. When endings come, we let go of people and phases with love, trusting that as one chapter closes, a new one inevitably must begin. We welcome in both love and loss, realizing that the most profound grief and the deepest tenderness are fleeting moments in the book of life. We release control over the outcome of events, choosing to focus instead on creating beautiful moments that weave together the tapestry of our soul’s sacred journey.

As we move through the Full Moon in Scorpio, I invite you to reflect upon what emotions are rising to the surface in your own life. How can you hold space for the wisdom of your shadow and its deeper truth within?
